Mass General Brigham, Best Buy Health Partner on Hospital at Home

Boston-based Mass General Brigham’s Home Hospital is one of the largest hospital-at-home models in the country. The health system has announced that it will work with Best Buy Health to develop solutions that support the continued transfer of health care to patients’ homes.

The two organizations will develop customized systems and capabilities to improve the experience of patients receiving hospital-at-home care, as well as the multidimensional care team that delivers it.

Their first priority is to expand and support Home Hospital. This technology-based clinical delivery model will expand access to Massachusetts residents who choose to receive acute-level hospital care in the comfort of their home. The organizations said the collaboration will also help address one of the biggest challenges facing the healthcare industry today: workforce shortages.

Mass General Brigham also operates the largest Medicare-certified home health care business in New England, offering skilled and supportive services to patients who are homebound during the course of an illness or injury. Together, Home Hospital and Home Care are components of Mass General Brigham’s overall home healthcare portfolio, which will now be supported by Best Buy Health.

In addition to developing new solutions, Mass General Brigham will leverage Minneapolis-based Best Buy Health’s existing technology and support services, including:
• Current Health, the company’s home care platform, connecting patients with nurses, paramedics, advanced practitioners and physicians;
• Services that allow for better coordination of how home care is delivered and logistics management to support the broader patient care team; and
• Lively Mobile Plus, your personal emergency response system (PERS) device, which can detect falls and allow patients to contact an urgent response agent.

“At Mass General Brigham, we are building the integrated health care system of the future across the entire spectrum of patient care needs,” said Heather O’Sullivan, president of Home Health Care at Mass General Brigham, in a release. “As a recognized leader in hospital-at-home services, we understand that consumers are increasingly choosing the convenience of in-home care as an alternative to traditional on-site birth environments. By enabling our services from world-class providers with technology that matters, we are elevating system capabilities and, most importantly, improving clinical outcomes for the communities we serve today while preparing for future care delivery more wide”.

As part of this relationship, Best Buy Health and Mass General Brigham said they would create equitable academic opportunities for people interested in pursuing careers in nursing, paramedical and digital technology by offering scholarships to students who choose the home care environment as their desired career. . atmosphere. They will also work to bring home care to the forefront of the curriculum within these industries to further support the growing home health care model.
