Epic, athenahealth Claim Best in KLAS Software Awards

Epic, athenahealth, Impact Advisors, Evergreen Health Partners and Chartis won the 2024 General Best in KLAS awards, as reported in the 2024 Best in KLAS: Software and Services Report.

The annual awards recognize providers of management consulting, services and solutions offered in the United States in 2023. The report is based on information obtained from more than 26,000 evaluations. These interviews represent the opinions of healthcare professionals and physicians from more than 5,000 healthcare organizations and measure more than 1,100 healthcare technology products and services, according to KLAS.

“Healthcare professionals face immense pressures, ranging from financial strain to staffing shortages and the very real problem of physician burnout,” Adam Gale, CEO and founder of KLAS Research, said in a statement. “With these and other challenges in mind, KLAS has set out to serve healthcare providers like never before. “We want to use our passion for improving healthcare to support those who may feel the challenges are too great to continue, and we want to provide practical insights that will ultimately ease burdens and improve success for physicians.”

As usual, Epic was recognized as the best overall software suite, ahead of Meditech and Oracle Health. This is the 14th consecutive year Epic has won the award. Additionally, Epic won 25 other Best in KLAS awards across various market segments.

This year, athenahealth won the General Medical Practice Provider award, which is reserved for providers whose outpatient EHR and medical practice management systems are classified into groups of various sizes for independent practices. The company also earned Best in KLAS awards in the following segments: Ambulatory EHR: Freestanding (11-75 physicians), Practice Management: Independent (11-75 physicians), and Small Practice Ambulatory EHR/PM: Independent (2-10 physicians ).

Impact Advisors was recognized as the overall IT services company winner. The firm also won in two individual categories, winning Best in KLAS awards for ERP Implementation Leadership and Financial Improvement Consulting.

Evergreen Healthcare Partners was named Best Overall Implementation Services Firm, a first-time win for the company. Evergreen also earned Best in KLAS in the HIT Advisory Services and HIT Core Clinical Implementation Leadership segments and scored above 95 in each of the three segments in which they are measured.

Chartis repeats as winner of the award for best general healthcare management consulting firm for the fourth consecutive year. Chartis also won Best in KLAS awards in clinical optimization and digital transformation consulting and scored above 90 in every individual segment in which they are measured.

Most Improved Software Product: Lightbeam Health Solutions. Lightbeam Population Health Management clients report an 18 percent improvement in satisfaction since last year’s Best in KLAS report. Customers say the driving factor for Lightbeam’s improvement is the provider’s increased focus on proactive and responsive service. Due to the constant availability of subject matter experts, respondents trust that whoever they speak to can resolve their request quickly and effectively. Customers also praise Lightbeam’s leadership for scheduling routine meetings to address concerns, solicit feedback, and discuss upcoming developments. Experienced customers notice a clear improvement in Lightbeam’s service culture.

More Improved Service Solution: AGS Health. Customer satisfaction with AGS Health’s extended business office services increased 14 percent since the 2023 Best in KLAS report. This score improvement was driven by AGS Health’s efforts to strengthen and improve customer relationships through strong executive commitment and empowered account representatives. Customers report high satisfaction with the availability, accessibility, responsiveness, and problem-solving skills of their contacts. Customers also report that AGS Health fosters a strong partnership by offering great transparency, carefully managing expectations, and remaining open to customer feedback.

Most Improved Medical Practice Product: eClinicalWorks. Satisfaction with eClinicalWorks EHR/PM among small, independent practices (2 to 10 physicians) has increased by 29 percent since the 2023 Best in KLAS report. Customer scores range from single digits to scores perfect 100s, and the feeling is strong on both sides. Satisfied customers have seen their experience improve with the release of version 12, which they believe addressed many customer requests and included useful features. They report improved workflows and say that the implementation of this update was less problematic than some previous versions.
